Fireside Chat with Mel Ainscow, Armand Doucet & Beatriz Pont: Reflections on Responses to the Pandemic

Facilitated by Chris Chapman

This 30 minute fireside chat will involve a short presentation from Mel Ainscow who will reflect on how the education system in Greater Manchester is responding to COVID-19. Our two keynote presenters, Beatriz Pont and Armond Doucet and Mel will then form a panel to discuss the range of approaches that are being developed in different systems to respond to the challenges being presented by the pandemic.

Building Bridges Based on Data

The Data Use Network Meeting is all about connecting our network members, based on emerging themes, focus on various stakeholders, and available data. We will build our virtual digital bridges between practitioners, policy makers and researchers, from all over the globe. You are requested to actively participate by mapping and connecting your work. Together, we will identify commonalities and differences between the work of our members, in order to strengthen our network and explore possibilities for further collaboration.

The Education Leadership  Network Session

Fireside Chat with the Educational Leadership Network

The fireside chat will be an opportunity to come together with members and friends of the Educational Leadership Network, and get to know one another. There will be an opportunity to discuss your current work, research, and thinking around educational leadership, hear about the network’s plans for the coming year, and build upon pre-conference activity, such as the #ICSEIEdLead Twitter chat. Be sure to follow @ICSEI_ELN and #ICSEIEdLead throughout the congress.

The Future of Education: Student Voices & Reflections from Policy Makers

In this session, you will hear students’ voices on the current and future state of education, with observations from policymakers. OBESSU student representatives, together with ICSEI researchers and professionals, will report on the discussions emerging from thematic working groups (E-learning environments, Learning Methodologies, Inclusiveness, Assessment and Well-being). Policy Makers from five countries will reflect on students’ input, commenting on implications shaping their policy directions, moving forward into the next normal.

The Professional Learning Networks Network Meeting

In this Professional Learning Networks network meeting, we would like to connect with (potential) PLN members to present PLN-related work of the past year and outline opportunities to contribute to this work for the coming year(s). After a brief plenary introduction you’ll have the opportunity to provide input and connect with others in the meeting to discuss ideas and plans. We are looking forward to meeting you and hearing about your ideas for future PLN work!

The Early Childhood Education and Care Network

The Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) network focuses on the early years (age 0-6) learning and well-being. The session provides an introduction and an opportunity to (re-)connect with other network members in a discussion about quality aspects of ECEC in different contexts, and to discuss future relevant subjects for the network to address at out virtual meetings during 2021.

The Methods of Researching Educational Effectiveness and Improvement (MoREI) Network Session

‘Publishing research in Educational Effectiveness and Improvement’

In the Methods of Researching Educational Effectiveness and Improvement (MoREI) Network meeting, Craig Hochbein, Assistant Editor of the School Effectiveness and School Improvement (SESI) journal, will discuss publication in SESI.

Writing for academic journals is highly competitive. In this MoREI network session, Craig Hochbein will give you useful tips and advice to increase chances of getting your research published in a prestigious peer-reviewed journal.

This meeting in the ICSEI 2021 virtual Congress also provides an opportunity to (re-)connect with other MoREI network members to discuss your current work.
